Videos like this one assure me that the lyrics written have not been penned without an obvious grasping of reality.
They give me a glimpse into the heart of the artist.
And though I have never shaken their hands or read their biographies...I think Tomlin, Maher and Giglio get it.
"As I pour out my heart..."
They get that there are stories.
"I lift my hands to believe AGAIN."
A before and an after.
"Be still, there is a healer."
There are wounds of every variety.
"You are faithful, God, forever."
And they get that there is another One who gets it, too.
So whether today is a day that you feel and sense and grasp His faithfulness, His grace, mercy, healing and strength...or whether today is a day that it takes everything you can muster within you to simply remember and choose to believe those things exist, even though the "feeling" seems to be at least as far away as the moon is...
Whether you are peacefully soaking in the river of His love or whether you are barely sticking your toe in, trying to decide if you really can trust Him or not...
Whether it is a day that you can lift your hands, or whether you need someone to lift them for you...
May this song be an encouragement. A reminder. A challenge. Just like it was for me.
Be still, there is a healer
His love is deeper than the sea
His mercy, it is unfailing
His arms are a fortress for the weak
Let faith arise
Let faith arise
I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart, these things I remember
You are faithful, God, forever
Be still, there is a river
That flows from Calvary's tree
A fountain for the thirsty
Pure grace that washes over me
